Buying loose diamonds can be a bit overwhelming sometimes, but it doesn’t have to be if you remember the 4Cs: Cut, Carat, Color, and Clarity.
The Cut
The cut of the diamond directly affected the shape and fine. The finest diamonds are those that have an eye-catching sparkle, and thus, these diamonds have the finest cuts. “Excellent” is the best cut, but also the most expensive. “Very Good” and “Good” are also great choices.
The Clarity
Clarity is a measurement that shows you how many flaws are in the diamond. Almost all diamonds have some flaws, which are known as “inclusions.” Most of these cannot be seen unless magnified, however, so you don’t usually have to worry about it. There are, of course, flawless diamonds out there, which mean they don’t have any inclusions. There are many steps on the clarity chart, so do some research before you buy.
The Color
Diamonds come in several colors, but most have a slight yellow tint. However, this usually isn’t visible unless it is compared to other diamonds. In most cases, this yellowish tint cannot be noticed when the diamond is set, especially if it is set in yellow or rose gold.
The Carat
Finally, we have the carat. This is just the measurement of the diamonds size and weight. The more carats a diamond is, the more expensive it will be. Size might matter in this case, but you don’t want to simply choose a diamond based on size. Instead, choose a diamond that is within your budget and has a great balance between all of the 4Cs. This ensures you find the perfect diamond for you.
