Caring for Your Airsoft AEG

If you have recently purchased an Airsoft AEG, you should learn about the basic maintenance of the product before you use it. Since you have likely spent a fair amount of money on this item, you will want to take care of it as well as possible to ensure that it lasts for years to come. Taking care of these guns is actually quite easy and will only take a few minutes every time you use it. In most cases, common sense can go a long way towards caring for your Airsoft guns.

Clean Them

Much like a regular gun, cleaning your Airsoft AEG gun can keep it in great shape. After cleaning it, you can use a coating of a silicone-based lubricant to keep the parts in working order. If you gun has a blow back feature, you will have to apply this lubricant more often. Make sure that you never use the same gun oil that you would use on a real gun or a generic lubricant like WD40, as this can do damage to the gun and will not have the desired effect.

Buy Good Ammo

Some Airsoft owners make the mistake of purchasing cheap ammo in an attempt to save some money. The truth, however, is that this cheap ammunition will not perform well and could end up doing damage to the gun. You should never reuse ammo because this can also damage the gun, which will end up costing you more in the long run. Only use 6mm round ammunition that you get from a reputable source because there are many sources out there that are only after your money and will not provide a high quality product.

Charge the Batteries

Purchase a smart charger, as this will help your batteries to last longer by preventing them from being overcharged. In addition, you should only use the gun when the batteries are completely charged. Failing to charge the batteries before use can cause them to break down more rapidly. Avoid shooting the gun when the battery is low as it can also damage the components of the gun.
